How to Pack Your Bin
That box in your closet holds decades of your family's story. Getting it to us safely is simpler than you think.
The Only Rule: Keep It Gentle
You don't need to organize anything. Just group similar items loosely and handle photos by their edges.
Tip
Never use rubber bands on photos, they perish and fuse to the print. Wrap stacks in tissue paper or tie with cotton string instead.
Packing by Media Type
Photos, Slides & Negatives
Stack photos neatly. Keep slides in their original carousels or a small sturdy box. For loose negatives, a paper envelope works perfectly.
Tapes & Film Reels
Keep tapes in their original plastic cases. No case? A Ziploc bag keeps out dust and moisture. Avoid extreme temperatures and strong magnets.
Your Quick Checklist
- Group similar items together loosely
- Wrap photos in tissue, no rubber bands
- Tapes in cases or Ziploc bags
- Use a sturdy box, fill gaps with packing paper
- Label the box with your name
That's it. No labelling, no sorting by date, no spreadsheets. We handle the meticulous part, that's literally our name.
