Preserving Your Photos, Right Here in Colwood.
I turn your boxes of prints and albums into a secure, organized digital library, without ever shipping them away.

Every print that waits is a print at risk
Colours fade and don't come back
Prints from the 1980s and earlier are already yellowing. By the time you notice the shift, part of the image is already gone for good.
That box may hold the only copies
Polaroids, drugstore prints, and school photos rarely exist anywhere else. There is no cloud backup for what is sitting in that shoebox.
The box keeps sitting there
A lifetime of photos is hard to know where to start with. It stays in the closet because it feels like too much - that is exactly what I am here for.
Your Originals Never Leave Colwood
Your family's photos are almost certainly the only copies in existence. I've been digitizing photographs for Victoria families since 1991, and I know how much is riding on that box. From the moment you drop off in Colwood to the moment I hand them back, your originals never leave my care. They're never shipped to a lab, never handled by strangers. Most families have a bin or album full of decades of printed photos. It's hard to know where to start. That's exactly what I'm here for.

Media Types I Scan
Loose Prints & Snapshots
I transform shoeboxes of jumbled prints into a digital collection, capturing every detail with professional-grade fidelity.
Photo Albums
I can scan photos where they sit in the album, preserving the original context and handwritten notes alongside the image. Or, I can remove them from the album to scan in bulk. It's up to you. Learn more about Photo Album Scanning.
Fragile & Antique Photos
My process is meticulous. Nothing in your collection is overlooked.
Two Scanning Methods, One Standard of Care
Not all photos are created equal. That's why I use two distinct approaches depending on the condition and format of your materials, ensuring both protection and quality.
Batch Scanning
Best for: Sturdy 4 by 6 prints and organized stacks. For standard prints in good condition, I use an Epson FastFoto feeder system. This accepts a stack of assorted sized photos and carefully scans each one. This allows me to digitize large batches efficiently at 1200 DPI, capturing clear, sharp images while keeping the project affordable.
Flatbed Scanning
Best for: Rigid album pages, tiny wallet sized photos, delicate and thin photos, fragile paper and anything with torn edges. If a photo is old, brittle, or damaged, I don’t run it through the fast scan feeder. I place it by hand on a glass flatbed scanner. This takes more time, but it ensures your most fragile memories are handled with absolute safety.
Precision at Every Step
In my secure workshop in Colwood, I use Epson FastFoto and professional flatbed scanners with custom colour profiles calibrated for photographic prints. Each scan is cropped, levelled, and colour-corrected before delivery. For fragile or curled prints, I use a weighted glass overlay to keep the photo perfectly flat without applying pressure to the emulsion. Your originals come back in the same condition they arrived.
Asked Often
What about large portraits?
I can scan photos up to 8.5 x 11 inches in a single pass. For larger portraits or panoramas, I scan in sections and stitch them together digitally so the final image is seamless.
What photo sizes can you scan?
From wallet-sized photos all the way up to 8.5 x 11 inches in a single pass. Larger pieces get scanned in sections and joined. If you have something oversized, bring it along and I'll tell you exactly how I'll approach it.
Will the scan change how my photo looks?
Standard scans are faithful reproductions of your original. I don't alter the image unless you specifically ask for restoration work. What you get back looks exactly like the photo you handed me, just in digital form.
Do my photos need to be organized before drop-off?
No. Bring the box exactly as it is. I'll sort and handle everything here. Some families have neatly organized albums; others have decades of photos jumbled in a shoebox. Either way is fine.
How long does it take?
A typical shoebox of 200-300 loose prints is ready within a week. Larger collections or album projects take a bit longer. I'll give you a realistic timeline when you drop off.
What happens to my originals?
Your originals come back to you in the same condition they arrived. Everything stays in my Colwood workshop from start to finish. Nothing is ever shipped away. At pickup you get your prints back plus your digital files on USB or via private download link.
What My Clients Say
“I found a tape of my grandmother telling family stories from the 80s. I was terrified to play it. Dave handled it so carefully and the digital audio file he sent me is a treasure my whole family now has. The fact that I could just drop it off in Colwood was a huge relief.”
